Easter vocabulary/Húsvéti szókincs

These are words connected to the Christian celebrations of Easter in Hungary. Basically from the end of the Christmas season these are special times that lead up to Easter and after it end with Pentacost (not Easter anyomore but in some way it is connected to Easter). I also included words which relate to the typical food and Easter traditions. You can read about locsolkodás and eggs in other posts.

4. Palm Sunday -Virágvasárnap (Sunday before Easter Sunday)
5. Maundy Thursday-Nagycsütörtök
6. Good Friday-Nagypéntek (Jesus died on this day. )
   
7. Holy Saturday -Nagyszombat
8. Easter Sunday(Resurrection Day)-Húsvétvasárnap
   
9. Easter Monday-Húsvét Hétfő
10. Pentecost (Whitsunday)-Pünkösd(vasánap) (50 days after Easter Sunday)

13. water sprinkling (onto girls)-locsolkodás (takes place on Easter Monday)
